By car, the most direct route is via the A8/A93 motorway from Munich to Rosenheim, continuing on the Austrian A12 to the Wörgl Ost exit. From here, the B178 and then the B164 lead to Saalfelden, from where the B168 leads directly into the Saalbach-Hinterglemm valley via the picturesque municipality of Maishofen.
Train connections require a change in Zell am See or Saalfelden, both of which are served by direct trains from Munich (2 hours), Vienna (4 hours) and Zurich (4 hours 30 minutes). From the railway station, regular shuttle services connect the main destinations in the valley. Salzburg Airport (90 kilometres) offers direct flights from many European cities, with private transfer services available by prior arrangement.
